Christmas is a very important time of year for us at Big Tree Electrical, and we’d like to take a moment to share why.
For nearly 1,800 years, Christians have celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ in late December and early January. Contrary to popular belief, this tradition wasn’t borrowed from pagan festivals like Sol Invictus or Saturnalia. Instead, it stems from the belief that Jesus was most likely born during this time. The Gospels dedicate significant attention to His birth, and the reality of God becoming man is so profound that it’s worth celebrating!
The Bible tells us that God took on flesh in the person of Jesus to save the world. Humanity, burdened by sin and death, needed a way out—and this was God’s plan to redeem us. At Big Tree Electrical, we take this season to celebrate the birth of Jesus, feast with our families, and share the good news of peace on earth and goodwill toward men.
Faith in Our Business: Why We Share Our Beliefs
If you’ve explored our website, you may have noticed that we openly talk about God and our Christian faith. You might think it’s unusual for an electrical company to discuss religion, so we’d like to explain why our faith is foundational to everything we do.
Every person operates from a particular perspective or worldview. This influences how we see ourselves, others, the importance of our work, and the world around us. Similarly, businesses—especially those run by individuals or small teams—often reflect the worldview of their owners.
You’ve probably seen businesses express their convictions in different ways, like flying a Ukrainian flag during the Russia/Ukraine conflict or displaying a rainbow flag to show support for a specific cause. At Big Tree Electrical, our worldview is unapologetically Christian. While some businesses hide their beliefs, we choose to be open about ours because we believe they have real implications for how we live and work.
How Our Christian Faith Shapes Our Work
Our faith impacts the way we operate in practical and meaningful ways, here are just a couple of the many ways:
Honoring the Lord’s Day We are closed on Sundays to observe the Sabbath, a principle rooted in God’s command to rest on the seventh day. Early Christians began celebrating the Sabbath on Sunday to commemorate Jesus’ resurrection, and we honor that tradition and command by resting and worshiping on the Lord’s Day.
Commitment to Truth and Integrity We are committed to truth and fair dealings. The Bible teaches us to speak honestly, avoid theft, and work with excellence. When we make mistakes, we repent, apologize, and do everything possible to make things right.
Our goal is to honor God through every project we take on, striving to be the best electricians we can be while upholding these values.
The Challenge of Transparency
Being transparent about our worldview holds us to a high standard. It’s not always convenient, but it keeps us accountable. When we fall short, we aim to reconcile and make amends, trusting that our actions will reflect the goodness of God.
At the end of the day, our work is for His glory. That means delivering high-quality results, treating our customers fairly, and maintaining honesty in all our dealings. We want our work to speak for itself while pointing to something greater than ourselves.
